The heat distribution of a building is at least as important as the heating device itself. The most common options are underfloor heating or radiators. Fan coil units are used less frequently. The quality of heat distribution is particularly important when a heat pump is used as a heating device, as the efficiency of a heat pump depends directly on the temperature of the heat carrier, ie heating water. The more thoughtfully the heat distribution is designed, the lower the heat carrier temperature needed to achieve the desired room temperature, and the higher the efficiency of the heat pump.
Radiators
Radiators are the most common heating distribution system today.
Advantages of radiator heating:
- Easy to install. Does not require major demolition or construction work
- Faster response time compared with underfloor heating
- More cost-effective to install in a house being renovated than underfloor heating
- Convenient to temperature selection with a thermostat
Maaküte OÜ mostly uses classic steel panel radiators. At the customer’s request, we can also install designer radiators.
There is a widely held myth that radiators are incompatible with heat pumps due to their high temperature. This statement is both true and false. If a radiator is designed for very high temperatures or has lost a large part of its heat output over the years, this statement may be correct.
However, radiators do not necessarily require a high heat carrier temperature. Maaküte OÜ has its own designer who designs the radiators according to the customer’s rooms and aims to keep the maximum water temperature below 45 °C. For this reason, the heating costs with correctly designed radiators do not differ significantly from those of underfloor heating.
Radiator heating is often the best choice for houses undergoing renovation where tearing up the floors is undesirable.
Underfloor heating controls
The next-generation underfloor heating and cooling controls combine energy efficiency and comfort with smart home solutions.

Water-based underfloor heating
Water-based underfloor heating is a system increasingly used in new builds as well as in renovated properties as the heat carrier.
Advantages of water-based underfloor heating:
- Heating elements are not visible
- Provides even heating across the entire floor surface
- No large temperature differences in the room
- No dust circulation in the room
- Can be connected to different heat sources
- Especially suitable for heating with a heat pump
